Update on Dystonia Clinics
The principle day at Walkergate Park Hospital, Newcastle, for botunlinum toxin injections is Wednesday, morning and afternoon, plus one evening clinic monthly. They also have outreach clinics at Sacriston, Co Durham on the 2nd Tuesday of every month and at Sunderland Springwell health Ctr on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month. Dr Paul Goldsmith's clinic is always a full day on the last Wednesday of the month. They are all assisted by the four nurses who also inject. Outreach Nurse John Whitaker continues with his home visits around the region and has his Whitehaven Clinic once a month.
Mr Alchin holds his clinics at Sunderland Eye Informary on a regular basis.
Mr Maurice Hawthorne has his clinic at James Cook University Hospital, Middlesbrough on a Wednesday afternoon. The dystonia nurses in Middlesbrough hold a clinic every Friday morning at the same venue.
Mr Hawthorne now has clinics at Walkergate Park approximately twice a month. He also holds a clinic at Penrith Hospital once a month. Dr Tilo Wolfe is holding a full day clinic at Walkergate on April 24th. Dr Lee works alongside Mr Hawthorne at Walkergate Park.
Dr Phil Duffy, neurologist at York District Hospital, holds a dystonia clinic every Friday.
Ms Dayan holds a clinic at Royal Victoria Hospital, Newcastle for blepharospasm and hemi-facial spasm.
There is also a clinic at Carlisle Hospital run by the nurses for blepharospasm and hemi-facial spasm.
