Oromandibular Dystonia

This is a focal dystonia which affects the jaw, mouth and/or the tongue.

This dystonia causes spasms which can make both opening and closing the mouth difficult, it can also affect speach and swallowing.

Treatment, as with all other types of dystonia, varies from patient to patient but usually consists of botulinum toxin injections.
